§ 3.7. Compensation.

Compensation for the mayor and councilmembers shall be set by the council subject to any limitations placed thereon by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Increases in the salaries of the mayor and the councilmembers shall not be effective until the July 1 following the first local election after the council approves such increases.
