§ 2-30. Duties of mayor generally.

  • (a)

    The mayor shall preside at all meetings of the council. When present, he shall have power to call special meetings of the council at any time. He shall give a deciding vote in all cases of a tie in the council, rule on any question under consideration and shall perform such other duties and exercise such other powers as are or may be imposed and conferred upon mayors of towns by the general laws of the state and conferred upon him as mayor by Charter and ordinances of the town.

    (b)

    He shall have power to investigate the acts of the town's officers and employees, have access to all books and documents in their offices and may make such examinations thereof as he may deem necessary.

    (c)

    In the absence of the town manager, he shall fulfill the functions of the town manager unless the council provides otherwise.
