§ 20-40. Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Encroachment means the placement in whole or in part of any item, display, merchandise or structure upon or above any public way such as, by way of illustration and not limitation, streets, alleys, trailways, sidewalks, easements and rights-of-way of the town.

Sidewalk means any paved area for pedestrian traffic, usually along a street or roadway.
