§ 16-5. Wells or pits; covers.

  • (a)

    Every person owning or occupying any land on which there is a well having a diameter greater than six inches and which is more than ten feet deep shall, at all times, keep such well covered in such a manner as not to be dangerous to human beings, animals or fowl.

    (b)

    The construction, installation and maintenance of such covers, including the manner in which any concrete used in connection wherewith shall be reinforced, shall conform to the standards of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.
